A 'Jazzy Brunch' sends San Diego School of Creative Performing Arts students to their NY competition

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) – University Height's neighborhood lounge and eatery, Madison on Park, will host a Jazz Brunch featuring live performances from the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA) jazz students. Many of their alumni from the program are now at schools like Juilliard and they are routinely awarded high marks at Jazz festivals.

SDSCPA was selected as one of 15 high school finalists from across the country to participate in the Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival in New York City, one of the most innovative jazz education events in the world.

SDSCPA hopes to raise $35,000 for the competition at the Jazz Brunch event held on March 16, 23 and 30. Madison on Park will donate 10 percent of proceeds from the Jazz Brunch series to the jazz department.
