Make jewelry from recycled bike parts at Vie Cycle workshops

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Biking is a huge hobby for people in San Diego, but what happens when something goes wrong with their bike and it needs to be fixed?

Sylvie Froncek from Vie Cycle wants all people especially women to be able to fix their bikes to get back on the road. She put on workshops all over San Diego to teach these bike fixes.

In order to offset the cost of these workshops, Froncek makes some untraditional jewelry… out of bike pieces! Whether you want earrings from bike tubes or a necklace made from cogs and chains, she has it all.

If you want to experience how to make bike jewelry you can enroll in a Recycled Bike Parts Jewelry Workshop. On Thursday, January 10th from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at We Work in Downtown you can learn the basics of biking and make some jewelry for yourself. Tuition for the class is $30.

Sylvie Froncek came by the Morning Extra studios to talk about what got her into biking and what people can expect if they attend the workshop.
