SAN DIEGO (News 8) - The Sono Fest and Chili Cook-off is happening Sunday to raise funds for the McKinley School Foundation.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 2 the Sono Fest and Chili Cook-off will be taking over 32nd and Thorn St. in San Diego. Thirty five local restaurants and chefs are all coming together to compete for the best chili along with other awards such as the Most Unique Chili and People's Choice. All proceeds from this event go to supporting the international baccalaureate program and fund Spanish, the arts, dance, and gardening programs at McKinley.

Along with chili there will be over 30 vendors, live music, and activities for the kids. There will also be a beer and drink garden for the adults. The event is free to attend, but tasting passes for the chili will be sold both online and at the event. Along with the tasting pass, packages can be bought that come with a handmade ceramic bowl from San Diego Ceramic Connection, or a Sono Fest Mug to hold all the chili being tasted. Presale for ceramic bowl passes begins Friday night and ticket can be bought at the Sono Fest website.
