SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - We all know that America truly is a melting pot and that is certainly true in San Diego.

The 21st Annual Annual Parol Lantern Festival is being held this Saturday, December 1st. The mission of the event is to promote Asian Pacific culture through the arts and to extend goodwill and enhance cultural understanding.

The event is put on by PASACAT, which was established as the Philippine-American Society and Cultural Arts Troupe.

During the event, visitors will experience cultural experiences, performances, parol making, and parol competition, and not to mention tons of food!

Guest performers include Marvin Calderon, Jr. (American Idol) and recording artist Albert Posis both local to the community of Southeast San Diego. The Mater Dei Minstrels will bring the Philippine sounds of Christmas, and there will be other performances by Otay Ranch High School’s Filipino dance group.

All the fun will be held at the Jacobs Center For Neighborhood Innovation in San Diego
