DIY projects that are sure to make your Halloween spooky

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Shenna Fulcher, a crafting expert with Michaels, joined News 8 Morning Extra and created three DIY projects that included costumes and decorations that are easy create this Halloween.

The first project was a quick costume that the kids can help out with. All you need to get started is a t-shirt, which can be decorated with felt and pom-poms, creating a pumpkin and unicorn costume that can be made in under five minutes. To enhance the costume, add tulle, elastic bands and a tutu.

Another project she shared was a ceramic cat made with the glitter. By taking the white ceramic cat and painting it black, while adding some glitter to the eyes, it makes the perfect addition to the house decorations. Adding a lamp underneath also makes it look like a pumpkin without making the mess of carving.

The last project was a witch’s cauldron that can double as a candy bowl. All you need is a basket, double sided tape, and some cut out letters that are all available at Michaels. Once the outside of the basket is lined with tape, you choose the letter to stick on to spell something, such as ‘Boo,’ and you also have the perfect holder for all the sweet treats you will be giving out.

Michaels offers classes for children three and up every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a new craft every week. The next class is Oct. 27 with a Monster Bash theme where the kids can make masks, treat bags, and a bracelet just in time for Halloween night. Visit the Michaels Kids website to register and find out about upcoming events for the holiday season.
