Uniting to end breast cancer - Komen San Diego's Race for the Cure

Every day six women in San Diego are diagnosed with breast cancer. Each year some 240,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer around the country and more than 40,000 women die from the disease.  It's a staggering statistic that Susan G. Komen San Diego has vowed to change. Their biggest fundraiser, the Race for the Cure, raises critical funds to support patients and save lives.  Komen San Diego's Shaina Gross joins our Laura Cavanaugh along with Plaza Home Mortgage's Alicia Wadsworth to talk about how Komen is instrumental in helping women along every step of their breast cancer journey.

The Race for the Cure celebrates survivors, honors those we've lost and helps raise crucial funds for research and to help support women in our community. Komen San Diego's mission is to save lives from breast cancer with the bold goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026.
