SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Pat Anderson may spend half of most of her days knitting away in her rocking chair, but don't underestimate her -- she's a woman with a mission.

Pat puts her knitting needles together each and every day to create what she calls 'busters', a.k.a. pairs of breast-shaped bra inserts. As a breast cancer survivor herself, she understands the value of dignity after a mastectomy.

"I'm 85 years old and it's really gratifying to know that I still have something to offer that improves someone's life," Pat says. "It's so wonderful when women tell me they feel normal again.

“It’s so fulfilling talking to these women who all appreciate that I’m a survivor. I know what they’re going through because I’ve been where they’re been.”

A textile artist from a young age and then inspired by her own frustrations trying to find a suitable bra-filler, Pat began to experiment with designs that eventually led to the Busters that she still creates today.

Each pair take about eight hours to create and the wearer is able to adjust the amount of poly-fiber stuffing inside to suit her own style.

If you or someone you know could benefit from a pair of Busters, email Pat with your request at spinshuttlestudio@gmail.com
