SAN DIEGO - Bring a date, grab some friends, and experience art in a whole new way!

Come celebrate the upcoming exhibition Javier Marín at The San Diego Museum of Art -- Balboa Park Culture & Cocktails 'Art of the Body' on Thursday, September 27 from 6-10 p.m. 

Member tickets have sold out but there are still general admin tickets available for $25 each. This is a 21+ event, and guests can look forward to: 

  • See statues come to life with performers from Living World Entertainment
  • Participate in live figure drawing with Thumbprint Gallery
  • Contortionists from Zen Arts will twist and bend in dramatic feats of seemingly inhuman flexibility
  • Get airbrush body paint inspired by the artwork of Javier Marín
  • Pose with a living statue in the C&C photo booth experience
  • Sip on “Body Language,” a hibiscus infused cocktail made specially for the evening by Misadventure and Co.
  • Dance the night away with music by DJ Giancarlo
  • Indulge your sweet tooth with desserts by Home Kitchen Culture + Sugar Kiln
  • Dine al fresco in the park. Eat Your Heart Out will have locally sourced cuisine available for purchase.

Javier Marín is Mexican sculptor who is best known for his monumental sculpture based primarily on the human form. 

At the heart of his work is the search for identity, and above all, is about beauty, a particularly human beauty that reflects what the poet José Emilio Pacheco described as “the terrible miracle of being alive.”
