SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - It is an incredibly serious topic that is raising money in a fun and humorous way.

Irreverent Warriors and Triple B Adventures have teamed up for the Silkies Hike Oceanside to raise awareness for the dozens of military veterans who commit suicide daily.

For those that don’t know, silkies are very short shorts that are given to military members. They have been dubbed “the most comfortable shorts in the world.”

The Silkies Hike Oceanside will host veterans, active duty Military, National Guard and reservists on a hike from Alamosa Park to the Oceanside Pier Ampitheatre. All participants must be wearing silkies. The event takes place on October 6th and will start at 8 a.m.

Brady Pesola, coordinator for the San Diego Silkies hike, Juan Ortiz from Triple B Adventures and Dennis Sisneros from the Oceanside Parks Commission joined Morning Extra to talk about this humorous hike that tackles such an important issue.
